FISO President, Mr. Ian Adamson
We extend our heartfelt respect and congratulations on the hosting of the World Series event in Japan. FISO is truly delighted that JOSA is able to organize this championship. Despite the short timeframe, the development of obstacle sports in Japan has been remarkable, and we have great expectations for its continuous growth. We look forward to the success of this championship and to seeing obstacle sports further expand and thrive in Japan, with athletes emerging to compete on the global stage. FISO President, Ian Adamson
The "2nd OCR100m Japan Championship" scheduled to be held on October 18th has now been officially recognized as part of the FISO World Series. This recognition comes after the FISO-certified OCR 100m course was completed in April last year, followed by a series of events—demonstration competitions, national championships, and official tournaments—all held within a short period. FISO highly evaluated these achievements and granted approval to host a World Series event in Japan just a year and a half after the course's certification. As a result, the "2nd OCR100m Japan Championship" will gain international attention as a global competition, with participants' results contributing to their FISO ranking points.
The "2nd OCR 100m Japan Championship / OCR World Series" had already announced its decision to be held as the "2nd Obstacle Sports (OCR 100m) Japan Championship" on January 24th of this year. Meanwhile, FISO—which highly values JOSA's activities in Japan since 2024—proposed hosting a World Series event in Japan. After thorough discussions between both parties, it was decided that the October tournament would become part of the World Series.
This will allow the event to be promoted worldwide through FISO, attracting athletes from abroad. It is also expected to significantly raise the competition level. Furthermore, participants' records in this event will become official FISO records and be reflected in ranking points. Through this competition, JOSA aims to continue hosting World Series events in Japan, further energizing the domestic obstacle sports scene while elevating Japan's standards to a global level. We remain committed to this challenge moving forward.
